Cinderella's Seventh Seal: The Phantom Carriage [Tue, 01 Jan 2013 19:01:19 +0000]
Happy New Year.
Speaking of New Year's, I avoided "amateur night" as one of my favorite bartenders called it.
Instead of going out, I stayed home and watched "The Phantom Carriage [http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0012364/]" on Hulu [http://www.hulu.com/watch/231048]. The arrival of the New Year plays an important part in the film.

Earlier this week, I watched another silent film, "The Unknown [http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0018528/]" with Lon Chaney. It's kind of like a one-way, gruesomely macabre spin on "The Gift of the Magi [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Gift_of_the_Magi]".
It's been a few years since I watched some silents at home, but in large part my interest has been renewed by reading "American Silent Film [http://www.amazon.com/American-Silent-Film-William-Everson/dp/0306808765]" by William K. Everson.
